About White Rock, British Columbia

The city of White Rock is located in the southwest corner of the lower mainland, sitting along the Semiahmoo Bay. As a seaside community, the city attracts thousands of visitors every year, and residents enjoy gorgeous sea and mountain views. The city is named for the distinctive large white boulder that can still be found on the beach near the historic promenade. There are over 18,000 people living in White Rock: in addition to families, the city is a popular place for seniors looking to retire to a quiet seaside community in metro Vancouver. The real estate market includes around 9,500 homes ranging from condos and town homes to family homes and large estate properties.

Surprisingly for a seaside town, White Rock has less rainfall than most of the neighbouring metro Vancouver communities. The mild weather and sunshine makes White Rock a great place for outdoor enthusiasts to live all year round. The eight kilometre beach and historic promenade are popular destinations for both residents and visitors alike, and many people enjoy sea and river recreational pursuits, including sailing and kayaking. Nearby Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest in Surrey is a popular retreat, and you can often spot a wide range of wildlife in this 130 hectare preserved forest.

The arts community in White Rock is lively, featuring a mixture of visual arts, music, and live theatre. Because of the city's large number of tourists, street busking is a familiar sight on the city streets, and the city's annual festivals are well attended. Foodies will love living in White Rock: we've got dozens of restaurants, most unique to the area and run by local residents.

White Rock Real Estate properties in the city include single-family homes, large estate homes, town homes, and condo options. Some White Rock homes for sale come with stunning ocean views, and almost all properties are within walking distance of the ocean. Communities in the City of White Rock are scenic, safe, and ideal for families of all ages and stages in life. There are two primary schools in White Rock and four secondary schools.
